2015 Wedding Trends

You’re no longer single and ready to mingle, but engaged and ready to be amazed! Amazed by all the options out there for your wedding day, that is. So many resources to sink your teeth into and so many trends to keep up with! In honor of our upcoming bridal open house this Friday, we asked some of our featured vendors what trends they are starting to see emerge in 2015. Whether you follow the pack or are a bold trendsetter, these folks might spark an idea that you couldn’t find anywhere else.

Let’s start with the featured venue (The Old Cigar Warehouse, of course!). Our Wedding Sales Manager, Arynn, talked about off-date weddings: “One large trend we are seeing is wedding dates breaking away from the traditional Saturday and moving to different days throughout the week and weekend. So often I will have a bride call asking for a Saturday, and when the Saturdays in her month are booked, she often sounds surprised when I suggest a Friday or Sunday.” Are you surprised too? Your wedding is sure to be sweet with that perfect dessert option. Holly from Holly’s Cakes says that for more casual brides, the rustic chic theme continues to trend into 2015. This means her team applying the knife swept technique when decorating cakes and adding touches of burlap and lace. And those brides looking for more glamour? Holly says they are “adding touches of gold in their cakes and cupcakes as well. We are also seeing a lot of the blush and gold color scheme which has a vintage and muted feel.” If you’re not into cake, that’s fine too. Amanda with FunnelDelicious gives us the details on how they are evolving into becoming a wedding vendor: “Whether it’s a late night snack or just something to have in addition to- or instead of- the wedding cake, unique dessert options are becoming more popular. For example, having a popcorn bar with different flavor options, donuts or even oreo balls as a favor for guests to take home, and of course, funnel cakes with fun topping ideas!”

We received a lot of great trend information from Muse 10 Photography and Cureton Photography. David with Muse 10 mentioned to us that engagement sessions are entering the “can’t-live-without category” and that mobile apps and downloadable photo galleries are replacing discs. Gotta keep up with technology! Furthermore, John with Cureton Photo gave us insight that he is seeing more and more couples opting to do first looks than ever before this year. Reasons why it’s a good idea include romantic alone time with your other half and knocking out family photos early on.

Liquid Catering is our sister company and a special event bartending catering company. Lindsey tells us that 2015 is the year of the signature drink. While it’s always been a trend, couples are stepping it up a notch with more specialty ingredients and putting emphasis on it  (think a cocktail hour where just that drink is served).

What does Julie with Willow Florals have to say about upcoming bridal trends? — “I think I would say that the trend is definitely creating an installation piece and focal point. Brides want the personal touch of something that is unique to them, and a floral meets art installation is very on trend.”

Another featured vendor for this Friday is the Swamp Rabbit Inn. Wendy has seen a huge uptick in wedding-related customers booking the entire inn for their bridal party or out of town guests. She tells us, “More and more we are hearing from our guests that they want an alternative to a traditional hotel where they can use our community kitchen to cook for themselves, a common area to mingle and gather.  They find that staying together in a house/vacation rental makes the time they gather for the wedding even more special because of the memories they build from a more familiar lodging experience.  The entire weekend becomes the experience. We see this trend continuing to grow in 2015 and are opening three new properties to meet the demand.” Awesome!

There’s still time to register for the Bridal Open House here. You’ll meet these fantastic vendors and more!
