It’s hard to believe that it’s already the second week of March! Just a few short months ago we were decorating our staircase for Christmas, hosting corporate holiday parties every week, and ringing in 2014. This past New Year’s Eve was extra special because we had the chance to celebrate with a lovely couple, Nicki and Zach. Aside from having that exciting aura that only New Year’s Eve can bring, this wedding was not your ordinary gig. It was intimate with loads of personal touches (which we love!) and left us with good vibes for the new year. As the evening progressed, vendors bustled into our space to get ready for the couple’s big night. Jennifer with Love This Little City, a stand out day-of wedding coordinator, helped usher everyone in and get things situated. Her timeline was perfect to ensure everything planned would go smoothly. During this time, Nicki and Zach were off getting some romantic photos in downtown Greenville.*Swoon*
Upon guest arrival a few hours later around 9:30 pm, they were greeted by bluegrass music and drinks by Liquid Catering. Trendy! We’re starting to see more couples open up the bar before the ceremony even starts, which is a great way to set the mood and keep ’em happy. This also gave folks time to check out the scenery. Decorated with garland and festive lights, we’ve got to mention that our staircase was looking good. Unlike the majority of our couples, Nicki and Zach wanted to be married on the staircase bottom landing opposed to standing on the opposite side of the room. So instead of Nikki entering down the stairs, they were perched upon them with their guests watching in awe. Wedding officiant Brenda Owen performed a touching ceremony for the duo with traditional aspects and love letters to one another, complete with a memorable wine ceremony.
They said “I Do”! It was time to party. After all, the vows had been said and it was New Year’s Eve. Nicki and Zach departed to Prince’s “1999” and guests moved into the Cellar for food and drinks; but not before taking a fun group photo. In the Cellar, Table 301 served a plated dinner which added to the close, intimate setting of the event. The bride added her own very creative touch to the tablescapes. Since it was indeed a holiday centered around the theme of ‘time’, Nicki cut out a variety of clock faces that rested on the silver chargers; and then clear plates rested on top of that. We’re still thinking about this cool idea. Very unique and appropriate for New Year’s Eve! Add a little greenery for the centerpieces, and ta-da–perfection.
The bar is not be forgotten as it was still swingin’ with not one, not two, but THREE signature drinks! This add-on never fails to make a wedding bar stand out from the rest. And bonus: Nicki and Zach named their drinks after places they had visited in their travels to Italy. Are we allowed to swoon again?
Praiano Sunset ~ Aperol and strawberry sparkling wine garnished with a fresh strawberry.
Acqua Pazza ~ Kentucky bourbon with a splash of lime juice, topped with ginger beer, garnished with a fresh lime
Root Beer Shot
These specialty drinks were a hit! As always, Liquid Catering did an amazing job prepping these for guests and making them look divine. Aside from the custom cocktails, the bar included a Premium Hops & Grapes package with craft brews and premium wine selections. After more photos with Marshall Graham Photography, Nicki and Zach made their grand entrance down the stairs with their wedding party. Cue the first dances and toasts, which were nothing short of wonderful. For the cake cutting, Liquid Catering served up the specialty root beer shot to pair with the elegant cake created by Buttercream Bakehouse. Yum!
Now one of the reasons that makes this wedding so special is a touch of true Greenville. If you are from the area, or have visited before, you probably know of the Mice on Main scavenger hunt. Nicki and Zach wanted to incorporate this fun activity into their reception by hiding (fake, of course!) mice around the venue for guests to find. Upon successfully finding one, guests could celebrate with a root beer shot or Krispy Kreme donut.
As if everyone wasn’t having a blast already, the new year was approaching. The countdown began…3…2…1…HAPPY NEW YEAR! And cheers to the newlyweds! If you can imagine, it was an enchanting moment for the couple. Just married, and now entering 2014 together with a new life. Liquid Catering topped off the moment with a champagne toast for everyone cheers’ing to good health and a prosperity. As the dancing and celebration ensued, we couldn’t help but revel in the fact of how beautiful it all was. Our venue was hosting a milestone event in their lives and helping ring in happiness.
As the night ended and it was time to say goodbye, Nicki and Zach left on a high note with a dazzling new year’s send-off and guests left with–what else? A little pretty box of Krispy Kreme donuts! Things settled down, vendors cleared out, and the venue got quiet. It was a peaceful quietness that made us feel ready for 2014. Ready to make more memories, and ready to make more wedding dreams come true. We’re already going strong into March but we cannot thank Nicki and Zach enough for being such an awesome couple and giving us those good feelings on New Year’s Eve. Best wishes!
