Our 1 Year Anniversary

Yesterday was our 1 year anniversary and we are still in awe over how far we’ve come in the past year. Through blood, sweat, and tears put into construction and renovations, to amazing events that we will never forget, the past year has been one for the record books. This week we reminisce on all that we have accomplished here at the Old Cigar Warehouse. In the beginning, we had to make some changes to this historical property that would transform it from a rustic building into a beautiful event venue, all while keeping its original vintage vibes. While we cannot forget to acknowledge the addition of new restrooms, full catering kitchen, bridal suite, office space, and so many more things here and there; the grand staircase in the Main Hall leading to the Deck is truly one of our favorite renovations. A striking centerpiece for the venue, the staircase has led brides down the aisle to their new husbands, held speakers for various corporate events, and donned decorations galore for every holiday.

Once the Old Cigar Warehouse was signed, sealed, and delivered, we needed a fresh event to get the ball rolling and spread the word. We came up with Modern Mr., a grooms-only event that let gentlemen listen to bride and groom panels with advice and mingle with vendors. Fast forward a few months, and we were busier than ever with wedding bookings. The rapid pace of inquiries to book the space was unreal! We attended our first Wedding Festivals show in June 2013 at the TD Convention Center where we had the privilege of showing off our new downtown venue to brides. The very same month we hosted our first Bridal Open House, which allowed both booked and prospective couples to tour the venue, meet featured vendors, and consult with a sales rep one-on-one. Since then, we have hosted two other open houses with the most recent one in January being the biggest turn-out yet! Oh, and did we mention our very first intern was hired over the summer of 2013? We’ve had a several since and are still making the program top notch for those interested in hospitality.

On August 29, 2013, the Old Cigar Warehouse hosted its one and only Grand Opening! Decked out in roaring 20’s, Great Gatsby themed decor, we had a great turn out. Guests enjoyed getting groovy on the dance floor, experienced food and beverages from a variety of vendors, and had the opportunity to win some exciting door prizes. The venue was in full force and our staff could not be more proud. One of the most thrilling parts of the evening was when Owner Tammy Johnson and Operating Partner Kathleen made it all official by cutting the ribbon on the grand staircase! Cheers!

The party is heating up!

As September rolled around, we had the honor of hosting one of euphoria’s newest events, Traffic Jam. Wow–what a spectacular turn out for this event with such positive feedback! euphoria is the Upstate’s premier food, wine, and music festival. Our sister company, Liquid Catering, has provided beverage services and bar management for the festival in years past so we thought: why not make this new event happen at The Old Cigar Warehouse? Traffic Jam was a hit among patrons! A laid back food truck rally, this event showcased craft beers and spirits, complete with live music on the Deck, a VIP area, and corn hole. It was such a blast.

We did not know what to expect with the winter holiday season. Weddings? Corporate events? Fundraisers? It was a mix of it all! The venue looked gorgeous and provided that perfect cozy atmosphere for clients. We even hosted a New Year’s Eve wedding which was a special way to ring in the new year.

In the new year, we found it essential to hire a new sales manager specific to wedding bookings. We recently introduced Arynn to the team as Wedding Sales Manager and couldn’t be more pleased. As we continue to grow, we know that more hands will be needed and more work will need to be done. But we also know that it’s all part of creating prolonged success. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and strive to keep that priority number one. We’ve built a network of trusted vendor professionals over the past year and to be honest? Without the dedication to their crafts, the venue’s events wouldn’t be as wonderful as they always are. It has been quite the winding journey for The Old Cigar Warehouse this past year, and we look forward to continuing this journey full speed ahead! Out latest venture is a pop-up restaurant–the first in the Upstate–which will take place over Valentine’s Day weekend. Partnering with Chef 360 Catering, this one-of-a-kind dining experience is one not to miss. Get all the details on Cellar 912 here.

Stay tuned to find out more about what’s happening over here on the West End of Greenville. Follow our blog, Like us Facebook, follow us on Twitter…we invite you to come along with us. Happy Anniversary!
